Yeah with Sally and his 'I love you, I hate you' moods, he seems to be messed around with his emotions so much.
...I'm thinking about following in John Green's footsteps and making a Catcher in the Rye video.

I'll try and write down some ideas and film something. In all honesty I don't have much time until Monday though.

It looks like Perdy is peeking out of the book....
You do not know how annoying it has been tryingto get this book. The local library has about 2 copies, one is all mangled and getting fixed, the other is loaned out. The school library has them all taken out because one of the English classes is studying this book.
I'll find one...

Hahaa, 'one is mangled'. Seeing as it's such an old book... well.
School is closed now, so I can't go to the school library, and I hardly ever go into town now which is where the library is. I'll have to find some time to go. xD

I has my copy. I've only got 9 days left, but I can do it. It took me a lot less time to read than I thought it would. Plus Perdy just got it too, so you two can at least read it together.

p128 "You got to hate everybody in the world" Asking us? Or just using the reader to make it seem like we have the same opinion; That he's not alone in how he views the world p139 "shivering like a bas*ard" It's not hugely important, just makes me think. I assume this term was used for born when your parents weren't married in 1946, and that the b****** would be shivering because they had been disowned by the world? Or would it just simply be what we say now, just a swear word. Am i being too deep in that, xP?
p156 This is obviously where the book get's it's name, but what does Holden mean? That he saves people from falling of the edge? p172 What was Mr Antonlini actually doing?
The way that this is presented is that Mr Antonlini was his only hope, and when he turns weird, he has nothing. The sympathy for Holden comes then, and I think (because it's wrote a year or so later) he's looking back to when his life was worse. He has a better life now. Finished. xD

p128 Yeah I think this is one of those times John Green talks about (in the second video) where Holden is constantly using 'you' when he really means 'I'. p139 I just assumed it was the swear word. Then again the further back you go through history the more related insults were to the actual meanings of the words. ...I these days you'll call people a b****** and no one considers you to actually be accusing you of being born out of wedlock. A hundred years ago it would definitely have implied the meaning of the word ...I don't know about 1946. p156 Not that he saves /people/, that he saves /children/. This is the important thing. His metaphor is that he stands at the edge of a cliff and saves the children before the can fall over the edge (eg, grow up). The conclusion of his wanders and being thrown out of schools is that growing up is the worst possible thing that can happen to anyone, that the knowledge gained from adulthood makes you miserable. He wishes he could have stayed foreevr as a child and his ideal job would be a person who could stop children from growing up. YEI! FINISHED!

Well I'm still merry on Chapter 9... So I won't read your spoilers but: I got a ingling he was depressed almost straight away, with the whole not being able to apply himself and negative few of everything and everyone. His hat is a safety blanket yeah? He seams to be very much attacted to it, though he is ashamed maybe to wear it in public since he waits to put it on until in his room. The whole thing with Jane is very sad. He obviously likes her and the thought of Stradlater screwing her obviously kills him. I love how he remembered the little things like the Kings in Checkers THat's all I can think of at the moment. I'll check back when I've read some more. But I'm really enjoying it though it is rather strange. Oh What was with the thing with Morrow's mother at the end of chapter eight. Was it just me or was he thinking about her sexual during their conversation? What's with the whole couger thing!?!

Reply to Perdy Yeah, I think part of his interaction with her was sexual. I think it's saying his hormones make any interaction with a woman half sexual. Not that that's necessarily what the rational part of his brain wants.

Well, in the next chapter he's all horny so I think that answers the question xDAnd at the beginning he says he is 16 (well, 17 but 16 when ^ that happened) But then why did he tell the three chicks in the bar that he was 12? Or was that just him doing some strange adolescent boy thing that I shall never understand?
