So I think this book is amazing, and as it's being made into a film I wondered what everyone else thought about it. So what do you think?

I never got around to finishing this for some reason despite really enjoying the first 30 or so pages...may have to get it out of the library and read it at some point.

I read it a looong time ago, but I remember thinking that is was a fair shot above Twilight. The book took a while to get interesting, tbh. :/

I read it around a year ago, maybe longer than that. It took me a while to get into into it, but after that I couldn't put it down.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed it... It was just really really entertaining. As for it being made into a movie... WUT. That's just... NO. Mainly because the substance of the book is Wanda's internalized thoughts and conversations with Melanie. It'll be interesting to see how they portray that visually...

That hadn't occured to me, but now you mention it, I'm interested in how they're going to make it happen without ruining it.

I have to admit this is one book I've actively avoided. If everyone's consensus is that it's good, maybe I'll give it a go sometime. But I read Twilight when it first came out and I thought it was okay and that Bella was a bit irritating, even so, not the worst book I've read. However, it didn't make me want to read anything else by Stephanie Meyer, so I just kind of avoided The Host when it came out.

The Host is much better Twilight, I recomend that you read it and see for yourself.

Yeah I hadn't bothered with it until a friend lent it to me reciently and said to read it. It's enjoyable I'd give it a go. What harm could it do

^ Ditto to what Wanderer said.
This is a book where a lot of the dialogue is internalised inside the protagonists head. How are they going to show that? I actually enjoyed reading this book and I kinda hope that they don't mess it up into a terrible film.
However I have a feeling that they will show the conversations between Wanderer and Mel by having them speak out loud like some kind of DID sufferer.

(Did anyone else keep on going Yeerks! Yeerks! while reading it. The book reminded me so much of the animorphs aliens)

I forgot to mention that I read this a month or two ago.
Much better than Twilight and quite an enjoyable read, although I actually wasn't a fan of the very end (whereas most other people seem to be). There were moments when it was irritating to read or weaker in parts than others but was 100% a step up. But as a movie - no way. It'd be incredibly difficult to do (well) and it'd be one of those adaptations that just fell apart.

^Kai Better than twilight isn't really a compliment. If my cat was to march repeatedly over my keyboard the resultant novel would be better than twilight
