So I think most of us here are coming to the age where we're thinking about what we want to do after school...(it seems all to soon - only just over a year for me until I finish my A Levels....) Personally, I'm really keen to take a Gap Year, jobbing and travelling, hopefully getting some experience in publishing as well as (possibly) theatre. Then I'm probably going to take on English at University - particularly 20th century literature. This course, particularly, has caught my eye.

I really want to get some experience with publishing, too! Although I don't think I'm going to take a gap year. I'd like to study English as well, but I'm really not sure at this point. I'm just trying to survive this school year first

It would be great to take a gap year and go traveling, but I want to study Veterinary and the course if 5 years so taking a gap year would just mean I wouldn't graduate until I'm almost 25

I'm at an Arts University for film production. I have 65 of my 180 hours currently and i'll have 80 by summer break, but I actually have to get more than 180 hours because I'm also getting a minor degree in graphic design.

Yeah, it's rather unfortunate that most scientists can't take gap years because they'll be practically retired by the time they graduate. It's a shame really.

I literally do not know what I want to do or where I want to go. :L (I have been like this since I was a child. I have literally never aspired to be anything or anyone. Uh oh.)
I recently went to an Oxford trip last month (it was gorgeous) and I love the idea of going there but I doubt I'll get the grades. I also don't know what subject I want to do. I've always entertained the idea I'll go to Uni to do Art after doing a year in college after sixth form doing a foundation course.. But my English Lit teachers both REALLY want me to do English Literature because they think I'm really good at it and could succeed really well.
I'm interested in both.. but I think English Literature would offer me more in the long run. Idek. :L All this time I've just been going with the flow so I think I'll continue doing so until I get an idea of what I want to do.

^^As someone who goes to an arts school, I would advise you to have in mind a way art could be marketable for you if that's what you wanted to do. Like, illustrators get plenty of work. Or if you were interested in being a graphic designer or something. My school is really focused on producing artists with a goal and a realistic idea of how their art could create jobs and be marketable. Basically, no one here just makes art and is like, huh, I wonder if someone would want to buy this, they're trained to fit what they want to do around what they can get paid for.

If you don't want to take a gap year most uni's offer some sort of exchange/abroad program where you can get a grant to do a semester or two overseas somewhere. It's not quite the same but is another way to see places without having to delay going to uni.
