When God Was A Rabbit - Sarah WinmanIt follows Elly as she discovers life in her childhood, with her pet rabbit called "God", and then later as an adult making meaning of the world. The book is all about different types of love - both romantic and brother/sisterly love. Just love in all it's forms. This novel is split into two parts, and that suits it very well. The first half is her curious childhood exploration of life. And the second part how relationships formed in childhood play out. Set to the backdrop of some violent incidents, the childish narration of the first half leaves you just wanting to hug people. Personally, I loved the novel. I cried multiple times - both because it was sad and alarmingly beautiful. The imagery was fantastic and these characters really were breathing. You guys know I suck at reviews, but it is truely a fantastic novel, and if you see it in the shops/library I'd certianly recommend picking it up and reading. And yeah.
