Do we know if she's writing/has written the sequel yet?

Well, she's probably writing the sequel right now. I'm assuming they're going for a yearly publication, at least. Her blog: www.lainitaylor.com/

Alright here's a question for you, how come Suzanne Collins, despite being one of the most popular YA authors atm has no online presence and no one has any idea if she's currently writing anything new?

She's secretive that way? xD She seems to be pulling off the whole "mystery author" thing quite well because of that....
Michelle Paver doesn't have any online presence either- she says because of the distractions.
and to be honest, Collins doesn't need an online presence because her books are already huge.

Yeah but that's it. It begins and ends with The Hunger Games. For every other author I know people are talking about their previous writing, their upcoming writing, etc. For Collins there is nothing. And Michelle Paver may not be online but she still seems to do things in the book community. I've definitely read articles by her in the bookseller and seen her do writing / signing events.
To me Suzanne Collins is missing out on an amazing opportunity. Rather than capitalising on the fame her Hunger Games series has got and promoting her previous writing, or new/yet to come writing she's allowing all the spin off to go to other dystopian authors.

I heard news Collins is writing a new series, but still, completely agree, tried to contact her lost of times.

Yeah, I've not really heard of her doing any events and I didn't even know she was doing a new series.

It depends on how she plays it. Even though she hasn't done anything since Mockingjay publically, if she came out with an annoucnement today about her next project and that you could now preorder it xyz, then she'd have a huge bunch of preorders. There are ways to be myterious in your ways without having an online presense.
To me, it feels you have to go to two extremes- either live online, or don't touch it at all. Be John Green or Michelle Paver (ok, I know she does interviews and stuff, but still).

Yeah, at the moment, because Hunger Games hype is still huge and maybe she'll be ok, I mean the films will stretch out that hype, but if there were no films to come out the craze would probably already be dying down. And I'm not saying there would be no pre-orders, just a lot less than if she was to do something now, or near the film release.

I wonder how much money she's made. Obviously, enough to live for a while.
She's probably been busy with the films for a while now, and probably will be for the forseeable future. I wonder what'll happen after.

I didn't think the authors of the books had too much involvement in the films adaptations?

Suzanne Collins helped write the script. Normally they don't have much involvement.

Aw that's interesting, so maybe the script will actually be good then! (Saying that Anthony Horowitz wrote or at least helped with the script for Storm Breaker and that's one of the worst films ever.)
