So, Chaucer! Needless to say, I'm not actually reading it in Middle English. The one I've picked up is a semi-modern translation. For those who don't know the story, it's about a group of pilgrims who are going to visit the grave of Thomas Beckett at Canterbury. On the way, they have a competition whereby they each tell the group a story. The winner will get a meal at the inn on their return. The stories range from bawdy, crude comedies to big, epic romances and it all forms a commentary on society at the time. I'm actually quite enjoying it so far. The Miller's Tale is great! xD

We did some of these in year 7, then created our own (some were pretty funny).

It sounds awesome in Middle English...my teacher read a bit outloud. Yeah, it sounds a lot like Welsh when it's read aloud.
