Brilliant book! So, I'm about half way through and I didn't think I'd actually get anywhere with it, because it's so big and daunting but Douglas Adams is a genius! It's such a brilliant book and written so uniquely, I'd recommend it to anyone! So this thread is basically so I can rant about how great this book is but has anyone else read it/ seen the Film/ seen the TV series/ heard the radio show? Any good or particularly funny or interesting thoughts? And whadd'd'ya think? Oh, and a quick quote to get you all intrigued... "'I stole it to look for a lot of things.' 'A lot of things?' said Ford in surprise. 'Like what?' 'I don't know.' 'What?' 'I don't know what I'm looking for.' 'Why not?' 'Because... because... I think it might be because if I knew I wouldn't be able to look for them.' 'What, are you, crazy?' 'It's a possibility I haven't ruled out yet,' said Zaphod quietly. 'I only know as much about myself as my mind can work out under its current conditions. And its current conditions are not good.'"

I read the first one a while ago, but got the box set recently. These are awesome, and I liked the film as a film, but not as an adaption from the books really. Still awesome, and the radio series sounds seriously awesome.

Yeah, on their own they're about 150-200 I believe. But I bought a box set, so they're all separate.
And the depressed robot was hilarious. xP

We have the audio series on audio book... in tape. I've read most of the books, they get so confusing after a while, it's hard to tell exactly what's going on

I think he made it up as he went along and yes it's very confusing! Hmmm audio books sound interesting You can borrow the super all books in one book if you want after we're done with it! It's only a month and a bit old but it's in pretty bad shape tbqh though.... Yeah, on their own they're about 150-200 I believe. But I bought a box set, so they're all separate. And the depressed robot was hilarious. xP "'I am at a rough estimate thirty billion times more intelligent than you. Let me give you an example. Think of a number, any number,' 'Er, five,' said the mattress. 'Wrong,' said Marvin. 'You see?'" "'Ask me if I ever get bored, go on, ask me.' The mattress did. Marvin ignored the question." "'What a depressingly stupid machine,' said Marvin and trudged away." genius

Awesome book! A very very sad moment when Douglas Adams died. I love the offbeat humour and the little odd things that are brought up. (if your a fan of Douglas Adams definitely check out Terry Pratchett, as they have quite a similar sense of humour imo)
I made a sticker for my kindle with the thumbs up and DON'T PANIC as seriously! A small electronic device that contains a massive amount of information that is easily accessed ? THE KINDLE IS THE GUIDE

I've not read it but I saw the film with Martin Freeman in a while ago and rather enjoyed it, if I can find a copy of the book somewhere I'll definitely give it a go. Marvin's my favourite character, love how funny he can be.

^ Definitely give it a go! The film is good (gotta love the opening scene) but the books are awesome.
