I read it recently. Spoiler tags just in case... It works really cleverly in that it fools you into thinking that it's a book about a guy being landed with a baby with a gay brother as a side-plot, then the story changes tack completely with the attack and becomes a really hard-hitting story about homophobia. Despite Adam's relationship with Josh being obvious, the intensity of the attack comes completely out of the blue and works really well as a plot device.
Although, I'm still left questioning what the point of the dual perspectives was. I think it would've worked just as well if told solely from Dante's point of view.
So I really liked it, but it's certainly flawed.

I don't think it's flawed because it's got a dual perspective...I think either way, it's a fantastic novel.

I dunno. I just think that Adam's perspective adds very little to the story. I think you could literally just remove all of his chapters and the story would be just as good.

I do agree, it wasn't structed well in that respect, and didn't really add the right thing to the story. Am very glad Malorie slipped that plot in, it brought readers that normally wouldn't read a novel that was based on homosexuality. TBH Dante's part wasn't very interesting compared.
