It was a very sad book and the movie wasnt very good aww every seems to disagree with me at least they tried to show what world war 11 was like instead of some of these stupid movies which have no decent story

I'm reading it in class and so far it's really good. I like how it's like Bruno has wrote it, it makes it more interesting for me.

The ending in the book was better as it was less explicit than the film ending. I prefer it to be implied. Yeah, but you couldn't really say in the movie Bruno disappeared, you had to show that Bruno was dead somehow and the way they did it was the least explict they could get. In the book, it never explicitly says what is going on. It is all implied. This is so much better than going all out and that is part of the reason why the book does not work as a film.

I watched the film and I thought it was alright. I'm still less then half way through the book but I agree with you all that it is better then the film (when is it the other way round?).
I don't think I actually cried while Bruno was getting killed but it was the mothers reaction that did it for me.

Do you think? I didn't cry properly but I shed a few tears and was hyperventilating at the end I thought she was a good actress. What didn't you like about her?

I read this book a while ago, and thought it was great. I haven't seen the film though, and can't really be bothered. I don't see how it would really work as a film. Like TomBeasley said - it's all implied. Made me a bit sad though, but I didn't go as far as to cry.

But I'm a girl so my first instinct it to cry. Stop making fun of me xP I wasn't making fun of you! I was merely saying that I've never got emotional over a book or a film. In fact, I don't seem to get emotional about anything now. I think all my feelings have been robbed from me!

A few books can make me really emotional. This one had me close to tears, as did the ending to The Amber Spyglass.

I don't know, I think she was trying too hard. And she didn't even know if he died or not, it was so stupid. The book ending was a lot better.
