Yeah, I'd give TWiB another go, I don't think it's massively a kiddy film despite being a 12A, I can understand why a youngster would get bored early on as it's a bit slow to get going with quite a bit of build-up/scene-setting. Good film though.
Prisoners - 8/10 A long film at 2 1/2 hours but it didn't feel like it was dragging. Interesting story with a number of twists, well-acted and thought provoking. Very deep film, but it grips your attention throughout.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug - 9/10 Wowowowowowowow, I loved this film! A huge improvement from the first installment, in my opinion. The first movie had terrible pacing and seemed to drag on forever with very little action taking place, but this new installment was action-packed and definitely had momentum pushing us through to the end, setting us up for what is likely going to be an amazing third movie. I won't spoil anything, but the last 30 minutes of the movie with Smaug was ridiculously intense. Best CGI dragon I have ever seen, and Benedict Cumberbatch's voice is literally so perfect. I can't really imagine him crawling around doing motion-capture, but it must have been a sight to behold . My only qualm about the movie was the awful, horrible, rushed, forced romance... ugh. So distastefully done. But other than that, I loved this film! It definitely deviates from the book in certain instances, but it didn't bother me too much. One thing I think the film did better than the book was expand on the character of Bard because in the book, Bard seems like a random guy who appears out of nowhere and then slays a motherf*cking DRAGON with a tiny little arrow, but in the movie, he's given more of a background... and he's also given more lines. For which I am grateful. I'm definitely watching this again a second time.
